Yes. If your vehicle is stolen, alert authorities and file a police report. When you do so, let law enforcement know you have OnStar. An OnStar Advisor can use GPS technology to help law enforcement locate your vehicle. If your vehicle is stationary, OnStar can tell police where to find it and send a Remote Ignition Block signal to keep the engine from restarting.
Once your vehicle is recovered, the Advisor or police will contact you and let you know when and where you can retrieve your vehicle.
Yes. Once you report your stolen vehicle to OnStar, Advisors can utilize GPS technology to locate your vehicle, alert authorities and, in some cases, remotely slow down your vehicle so thieves won’t get far. With Remote Ignition Block, OnStar can also remotely prevent a thief from restarting your vehicle.
OnStar’s Stolen Vehicle Slowdown is available on most 2009 model year and newer General Motors’ vehicles in the U.S., Canada, China and Mexico. The service is included in the OnStar subscription that comes standard on new GM vehicles.

No. Pushing the button connects you to a specially trained OnStar Advisor who can help provide medical assistance. They can also contact emergency service providers in the same manner that dialing 911 would. These specially trained OnStar Emergency Advisors can pinpoint your location and offer critical assistance, staying on the line with you until help arrives.
It’s someone who pushes the red Emergency button to help someone else when they see an emergency on the road. An Advisor can use GPS technology and the information you provide to locate the emergency and contact the nearest emergency service provider.
If an OnStar Advisor is connected to your vehicle, they can dispatch help to your location, even if you’re unable to ask for it yourself.
